Smartphones are still the elephant in the room.
And your health will only get worse until you set better tech boundaries.
Two new studies confirm what common sense told us long ago — smartphones are wreaking havoc on our physiology and mental capacity, especially in our youth.
This meta-analysis from September found consumption of short-form video was associated with poorer cognition, focus, and self control along with increased stress and anxiety.
And this study from December showed acquiring a smartphone in adolescence was associated with a significantly higher risk of depression, obesity, and poor sleep quality.
Over 108,000 participants across these two studies, and frankly, these results are just the tip of the iceberg.
Blue light from smart technology depletes dopamine and destroys melanopsin (the primary regulator of the circadian clock). The EMF burden reduces mitochondrial membrane potential, causing less energy production and greater oxidative stress especially in the brain, heart, thyroid, and reproductive organs where we often hold these devices the closest.
The fine print of your iPhone even says to hold your device at least 15mm from your body for “safe” radiation exposure (see below).

The mental and spiritual implications can’t be overlooked either. Empty, artifical abundance signals become the baseline while our feeds push content that’s more vulgar, negative, and stimulating than our brains were meant to handle.
What happens when you deplete these central mechanisms long-term? On the physiological level, greater prevalence and earlier incidence of dementia, metabolic disorders, and cardiovascular disease. Mentally, innovation, creativity, and free thinking go down the gutter.
Sounds like a population that’s easier to control and more reliant on the pharma & food industries pushing “solutions.”
We can’t wait for science to catch up to common sense here.
As an individual, you must be relentless about setting technology boundaries for your own sake.
If you’re a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or anyone with any level of influence on our next generation, you MUST stand strong against tech and smartphones. Keep your kids from using them at all costs. Start to view technology as the enemy until you truly have a good handle on how to use it responsibly. Speak up to teachers, friends, and family. Don’t be afraid of judgment or resentment.
As for me, I’ll be switching to a minimalist phone in the new year along with a Daylight Computer for producing content, and I’ll have a full post soon on how we “de-innovated” our home for health and productivity.
Good health starts with moving backwards.
